This role supports the development and implementation of a new data platform, primarily focused on the development and review of data models and architectural design.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Contribute as a subject matter expert for data architecture
  • Compile and maintain data architectural artefacts documenting current state, gap identification and incremental future state opportunities
  • Contribute to data architecture framework, approach and capabilities
  • Develop data models and identify data integration opportunities
  • Work with the data engineering and data architecture teams to ensure successful delivery of integrated operational systems and services
  • Contribute to ongoing support, maintenance, governance of data architecture standards and tools
  • Assist in scoping, pinpoint blockers, niches

Is this you?

Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or certification (such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or similar in cloud platforms)
  • Knowledge of Databricks and Lakehouse platforms
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with major cloud platforms, preferably AWS. Understanding of core services, pricing models, and leveraging them to meet business requirements
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with stakeholders and conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Understanding of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with cloud security best practices, IAM, encryption, data protection, and compliance standards
  • Experience with cloud-based data storage and management services such as Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, or similar
  • Strong experience with data modelling techniques such as dimensional modelling, star schema, and snowflake schema
  • Proficiency in DevOps practices, CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab), configuration management, and infrastructure as code (IaC)
  • Experience with hybrid and multi-cloud architectures and connecting on-premises infrastructure with cloud environments
