Introduction

This will be a contract based role for upcoming drilling activity commencing immediately. An exciting opportunity to join a major international drilling company. Seeking Candidates ideally based in South East Queensland for work in the Surat Basin.

The Rig Electrician is responsible for the preventive, routine and non-routine maintenance of the land drilling rigs and for the repair of electrical systems for all drilling related equipment of the rigs.

What are you going to do 

Brunel Australasia are currently seeking Rig Electricians to work in QLD. These are FIFO roles on a 3x3 roster

This will be a contract based role for upcoming drilling activity commencing immediately.

The Rig Electrician is responsible for the preventive, routine and non-routine maintenance of the land drilling rigs and for the repair of electrical systems for all drilling related equipment of the rigs.

  • Ensures that all electrical systems, plant and equipment are safe and complies with relevant standards and codes
  • Adopt Company preventive maintenance system to contract.
  • Proved instruction and supervision to electrical maintenance support staff.
  • Contributes proactively to maintenance programs and targets.
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts and emergency spares.Manage inspection and re-certification of critical components as per contract.
  • Provide hands-on refurbishment of Company owned equipment.
  • Establishes correctly isolating procedures for the safe maintenance of plant and equipment and ensures that all relevant personnelare aware of these practices and procedures.
  • Reports directly to the Rig Manager on all aspects of electrical related issues and maintains a visible commitment towards safety.
  • Any further reasonable duties as directed by a supervisor
  • Comply with all QA & HSE policies and work procedures

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • Electrical Licence - State Required
  • Experience working with AC Variable Frequency Drives, SCR drives, Generator Controls, RAPAD rigs, and Programmable Logic Controllers(PLC)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Open, manual Driver's License
  • Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas(EEHA)

Rig ready training (training provided if needing to be refreshed)

  • First Aid /CPR
  • ISI
  • 4x4 Operate Vehicles in the Field
  • Breathing Apparatus
  • Confined Space Training
  • Gas Testing and Monitoring
  • Working At Heights
  • Wellsite Permit to Work
  • Low voltage rescue
