We have a large Oil & Gas client looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join their team in Downtown Houston, TX.

Position Overview:

The Senior Project Engineer will be based in Houston and will provide multi-discipline engineering support for development projects, particularly in the Pre-Concept, Concept Select, and FEED stages. This role is part of one or more Project Management Teams (PMT) and involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders, third parties, regulatory bodies, and the broader Project Development & Engineering team. The Senior Project Engineer will support various tasks including project scoping, design assurance, technology selection, and permitting. The role may involve working in selected EPC contractor offices and occasional travel to project sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support throughout all phases of Engineering & Construction (E&C) projects, including Pre-Concept, Concept Select, and FEED stages.
  • Oversee the timely completion of engineering deliverables with regard to scope, schedule, quality, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Project Development and Engineering Managers to ensure clear communication of project milestones and deliverables to contractors and the engineering team.
  • Develop key project documents such as Basis of Design, Scope, Statement of Requirements, and Basic Engineering Data.
  • Work with Supply Chain Management to define technical requirements in contracts, evaluate bids, and ensure alignment with project scope and labor.
  • Contribute technical input into Capital Committee Memorandums, Business Cases, and Project Execution Plans.
  • Ensure Design Assurance for project deliverables and support the development of engineering specifications and standards.
  • Assist in the development of Resource Reports and other technical documents required for permitting new and expanded facilities.
  • Identify and assess technical risks, providing appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Participate in safety and project reviews, including HAZID, HAZOP, constructability, and risk reviews.
  • Ensure projects meet deadlines, budgets, and objectives, keeping the Engineering Manager informed of any technical, schedule, or cost issues.

Is this you?

Knowledge & Experience Required:

  • Industry Knowledge: Experience with gas processing, natural gas, and LNG (or other cryogenic hydrocarbon liquids) transportation and storage. Familiarity with federal and state regulations, engineering codes and standards, and regulatory bodies like FERC, PHMSA, USCG, DOT, and OSHA.
  • Project Development Knowledge: Understanding of project development phases, including engineering studies, design development, and process hazard analysis (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, facility siting).

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required; Professional Engineering License preferred.
  • Experience: At least 10 years of experience in engineering design, project development, or operations within the LNG or oil and gas industry. A minimum of 5 years of project engineering experience on development projects, preferably LNG-related.

Skills:

  • Must be flexible, self-motivated, and capable of working in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and the ability to build relationships.
  • Familiarity with FERC and PHMSA regulatory requirements.
  • Must have or be able to maintain a valid TWIC card.
