Introduction

Brunel is seeking a Senior Instrument and Controls Engineer to manage and oversee engineering consultants/contractors on all aspects of the I & C design and execution for our mining clients various capital projects. Provide technical guidance, optimization opportunities and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to project specifications and timelines in compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

About this role

  • Instrumentation and Control system Engineering experience in Detailed Engineering, Construction/Field Support
  • Interpreting P&I Drawings, review/checking loop diagrams, schematics, or other field instrumentation drawings.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to engineering contractor project teams, resolving technical issues/conflicts and ensuring adherence to project timelines and specifications.
  • Use of technical judgment in making selections and adaptation of engineering alternatives during various stages of project implementation.
  • Work with the project team during various optimization efforts during various stages of project implementation.
  • Supports risk assessments, including PHA/HAZOP
  • Generate and review technical reports, specifications, and data sheets to support project implementation.
  • Implement and monitor performance indicators, metrics for measurement of Instrumentation and Controls progress/schedule during various stages of project implementation.
  • Prepare Weekly/monthly reports to communicate project status and outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other discipline, departments, and company installations/sites to provide technical support and recommendations during various stages of project implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, regulations, and safety guidelines (e.g., ASME, API, ISO, IEC, ISA) various stages of project implementation.
  • Proficiency of Smart-Plant Instrumentation Instrument database.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an Electrical or Instrumentation and Control
  • Minimum 7 years of Instrumentation and Controls Engineering experience (EPC and/or Client).
  • Demonstrated experience in Instrumentation and Controls Engineering and Implementations
  • Managing and Working with Engineering Consultants and Contractors
  • P.ENG
  • Smart-Plant Instrumentation
  • Detailed Engineering Project Experience in Instrumentation and Control system
  • Interpreting P&I Drawings, review/checking loop diagrams, schematics or other field instrumentation specifications and drawings.
  • Broad knowledge in the principles and practices of Instrumentation and Controls engineering; applicable to both field instruments and process control system (Delta V)
  • Managing instrumentation and control interfaces with vendor supplied 3 party packaged Control systems
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of applicable international industry codes and standards
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex systems
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information effectively to diverse audiences
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross function teams
  • Strong attention to details and commitment to quality and safety
