Introduction

On behalf of our client, a Global Oil & Gas provider, we are seeking for an experience Financial Manager. This role will be responsible for corporate accounting and internal reporting for the company and its subsidiaries.

About this role

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Preparation of statutory financials, US GAAP reports, and management accounts for each Product Service Line (PSL).
  • Oversee monthly management accounts and analysis of trends, forecasts, and corporate requirements.
  • Coordinate annual budget plans and forecasts (quarterly, monthly, weekly).
  • Analyse and disseminate financial and non-financial information for management.
  • Ensure fiscal responsibility across all departments.
  • Manage key projects, including acquisitions, systems implementation, and reporting processes.
  • Provide recommendations on business opportunities and financial implications.
  • Offer detailed cost analysis of products and services, supporting process and business improvement.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with accounting standards.

Process Management:

  • Develop and maintain a robust accounting framework.
  • Oversee the development of accounting software systems, ensuring they become the sole reporting application.
  • Ensure finance processes and policies are documented, updated, and communicated across the business.

General Accounting:

  • Manage bookkeeping, including accounts payable/receivable, ensuring timely payments.
  • Review fortnightly payroll, PAYG summaries, superannuation, payroll tax, and workers' compensation, ensuring compliance.
  • Oversee timely reconciliation of bank accounts and provide cash flow forecasts.
  • Ensure accurate general ledger maintenance and tax obligations (income tax, BAS, FBT returns).2/2

Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with statutory, government, and ethical standards.
  • Maintain best practices according to accounting, audit, government, and tax standards.
  • Ensure adherence to the company's code of conduct.

People Management:

  • Manage the Finance Team, monitor performance, and implement KPIs.
  • Mentor and coach team members for effective finance operations.
  • Work with HR on training plans and conduct performance reviews.

Mentoring and Coaching:

  • Stay updated on industry changes and ensure relevant information is communicated to staff.
  • Mentor team members to improve job performance.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings and team-building activities.

Reporting:

  • Ensure timely submission of statutory and corporate reports, including annual audited financial statements and corporate tax returns.
  • Develop and implement regular finance activity and project status reports.
  • Liaise with management to review revenue, expenditure, and forecasts.
  • Report people/performance issues to HR.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work with minimal supervision from the General Manager/Regional Financial Controller.
  • Supervise other personnel as required.
  • Ensure personal and team safety and report unsafe conditions.

Decision-Making Authority:

  • Execute tasks with initiative, leadership, and minimal supervision.

Safety Awareness:

  • Comply with safety rules and regulations at all times.
  • Participate in safety inductions and QHSE programs.

Is this you?

Requirements:

  • Australian Full working rights
  • Degree in Accounting, CPA membership preferred.
  • Strong background in Tax, Audit, Compliance
  • Understand ATO and BAS
  • Budgets, Analytics, Monthly Reporting
  • Willingness to travel (interstate/overseas).
  • Knowledge of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) requirements and guidelines
  • Knowledge of GAAP (Generally accepted principles) applicable in Australia /US3/2
  • Good understanding of FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) requirements
  • Knowledge of SOX (Sarbanes & Oxley Act) requirements and Australian financial legislation.
  • Knowledge of Anty-boycott provisions
  • Record keeping and document retention requirements to Australian Accounting and Statutory Requirements
  • Australian accounting and Statutory Legislation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong management skills, including training, liaising with external agencies, and staff development.
  • Practical skills in financial controlling, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
  • Strong customer focus and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions and foster effective team relationships.
