Brunel is currently searching for an Engineering Manager for direct hire with our client located in Houston, Texas.

About this role

This position is responsible for the Engineering Management for Green Hydrogen Projects with a focus on delivery stages. Key emphasis is the ability to lead a fast-paced engineering design team to bring composite solutions from concept through to implementation.

  • Lead the engineering management of the project through FEED completion, detailed design, execution, commissioning, and start-up phases.
  • Accountable for managing engineering delivery and handover according to project objectives and Fortescue's requirements.
  • Accountable for the development and management of Value Improvement Practices (VIP).
  • Accountable for the engineering technical management of change process including technical clarifications, TQs and scope changes between the engineering contractor/s and Fortescue.
  • Direct-line management of Lead Engineers, maintaining clear lines of communications on project progress and issues, including chairing engineering meetings and workshops to inform, coordinate and manage engineering input and outcomes.
  • Co-ordinate inter-discipline communication and cooperation, and effective integration with other project functions (e.g., procurement, construction, document control, etc.) and issue resolution.
  • Interface management between the Fortescue's engineering team and other project stakeholders.
  • Responsible for scope definition and manages the planning, resourcing, and scheduling of all engineering related activities.
  • Responsible for development of frameworks to measure project metrics, including monitoring and reporting engineering activities.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree in a relevant field.
  • Professional Engineer, or similar professional registration/certification highly desirable.
  • 15+ years of major capital projects/technical management experience in energy, O&G and / or process infrastructure - experience with hydrogen is highly desirable.
  • Project execution experience using EP/EPC structures.
  • Demonstration of ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated understanding of critical design workshops including HAZOP, HAZID and 3D Model/Design review.
  • Proven leadership skills, including managing, developing, planning, trouble shooting and motivating diverse teams to achieve project objectives and deliver to agreed budget, cost and quality with a strong commitment and prioritization of HSE and Process Safety considerations.
  • Experience in managing the delivery of complex engineering tasks, ideally with exposure to renewable energy, hydrogen, water, and/or process engineering infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in successfully engaging and managing external consultants and contractors.
  • Proven negotiation skills that ensure all stakeholders support and accept the core business goals, and project deliverables.

What we offer 

Base salary commensurate with experience, plus 30% STI. Relocation is not available for this position.
