Introduction

  • Serves as project’s subject matter expert in those design and construction activities related to vessel electric power generation & distribution systems; lighting systems; automation (alarm, control, and monitoring) systems; communication systems; and navigation / integrated bridge systems
  • CONTRACTOR personnel providing these SERVICES will be acting as Charterer’s Representative; interaction with shipyard personnel will be controlled within the boundaries defined by the shipbuilding contract(s) and charterparty(s)
  • CONTRACTOR personnel providing these SERVICES must leverage their prior experience as an owner’s representative to ensure that the Vessel Owner / Operator site teams are applying the standards of a first class LNGC shipowner
  • CONTRACTOR personnel providing these SERVICES may be interacting with multiple Vessel Owner / Operator site teams, each with a different shipbuilding contract; strict adherence to confidentiality obligations must be observed at all times
  • CONTRACTOR personnel providing these SERVICES must act as a proactive leader in driving the SHIPYARD’s safety standards towards the highest attainable in the industry

About this role

  • Coordinate the Engineering aspects of the project activities within his discipline and ensure safety, operability, maintainability, reliability and other technical objectives are fully met within the approved design specification, schedule and regulations
  • Supervision of Electrical engineering design, procurement, factory testing, installation, and commissioning activities
  • Reviews and approves on Electrical engineering design, drawings and analysis work, ensures design is in compliance with specification requirements, good engineering practice and complies with Rules, Regulations and Standards
  • Ensure drawing review and approval are done within the contractual time and document any changes to vessel drawings upon completion of modifications
  • Monitors Ship Builder’s performance within his discipline, providing instructions as necessary to make certain electrical systems design goals, design philosophy, layout and specifications are met
  • Participate in QA/QC inspections, audits and assessments in liaison with shipyard to ensure work is carried out in accordance with quality procedure and specification requirements
  • Prepare the Survey and Inspection Reports in accordance with applicable requirements
  • Promptly report to the Management any irregularities or concerns which may impact project execution or compromise compliance with Company Standards and Policies.

Requirements

  • (R) Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or adjacent field
  • (p) STCW license (active or expired) as Chief Engineer, Second Engineer, or Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch
  • (R) Minimum 20 years’ experience in related field and project planning & coordination of activities within the Oil & Gas and Marine Construction Industry, including minimum 3 years’ experience in the design of LNG carriers and minimum 3 years’ experience either (a) on a shipyard site team as either an owner’s or charterer’s representative, or (b) as an employee in the design department or commissioning department of a shipyard
  • (p) Experience as an owner’s or charterer’s representative in any of the (4) Shipyards, or as an employee in the design department of any of the (4) Shipyards
  • (p) Experience sailing on LNG carriers
  • A thorough knowledge of applicable regulations, Class Rules, and industry codes and standards as relates to this field of expertise
  • Ability to work unsupervised and as part of large team
  • Must be capable of positive decision-making & demonstrating a high level of judgement & responsibility
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate high quality work with a proactive and results orientated attitude.
  • Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and PC Skills, proficient in design software
