Introduction

The construction manager will be managing and executing large-scale construction projects within the mining sector, working for one of the industry's leading players. Implementing robust construction strategies that align with both project objectives and client expectations.

About this role

Strategic Oversight: Develop and implement robust construction strategies that align with the project's objectives and client expectations. Ensure that methodologies and approaches are innovative and reflective of industry best practices.

Leadership Excellence: Provide visionary leadership to guide project teams towards successful outcomes. Foster a collaborative and high-performance environment to drive team efficiency and morale.

Construction Methodology: Implement modern construction practices to ensure that all assigned work meets client expectations, adheres to company objectives, and fulfills contractual obligations.

Subcontractor Management: Approve the engagement of subcontractors, manage their work to achieve project outcomes, and handle all significant subcontractor variations.

Supervisory and Cost Management: Ensure appropriate supervisory levels, manage construction costs, and oversee schedule and change management processes.

HSE Compliance: Integrate Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements and risk controls into all construction planning and processes.

Financial Oversight: Manage contract, commercial, and financial risks, forecast costs and revenues accurately, take corrective actions as per organization authority and reporting frameworks, and maximize the project's profit margin.

Policy Adherence: Execute all responsibilities in strict accordance with organization policies, processes, systems, and procedures.

Requirements

Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CEng, RICS) are advantageous.

Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in construction management, with significant exposure to large-scale projects in the mining industry.

Financial Acumen: Strong experience in managing project budgets, financial forecasts, and cost control measures. Proven ability to enhance profitability while adhering to financial and contractual obligations.

Compliance and Safety: In-depth knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and regulations
