Introduction

  • BIM Technician – Buildings (often referred to as BIM Modeler) primary function is to support the BIM Specialist and BIM Coordinator in the production and the management of information models (BIM) and creation of accurate design drawings or other model derivatives, as well as quality assurance.
  • Skilled BIM software modelling expert with solid understanding of the specific design discipline leveraging on BIM enabled software (Revit, Navisworks, and Solibri).
  • Assist the BIM Specialist and BIM Coordinator in the BIM delivery for Project(s) within the Department
  • BIM Technician shall be considered an evolved CAD Drafting position to suit within BIM technology environment
  • Knowledge of the BIM process, regarding Architecture, Structure and MEP disciplines

About this role

  • Assist BIM Manager and BIM Coordinators
  • Collaborate with a team of professionals to produce 3D information models and drawings with minimal supervision
  • Develop and deliver, in conjunction with supply chain structured BIM models for programmes/ projects within Company
  • Ensure that the model is compliant with Company standards and goals set in BIM Execution Plan and BIM project workflow criteria
  • Collaborate and coordinate design changes and model changes with other disciplines
  • Conduct quality assurance of BIM submissions or designs to ensure compliance with Company standards
  • Develop and model discipline specific BIM objects for projects in coordination with the Engineering Services Department
  • Ability to export to different formats to collaborate internally and externally
  • Adhere to effective project quality procedures

Requirements

  • Diploma in Engineering/ Academic degree (e.g., Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management)
  • Diploma or a degree from a recognized university in an appropriate field such as Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management or equivalent
  • Holding Qatari Driving License
  • Experience of working in Qatar and / or the Gulf region
  • Minimum 7 years of experience and at least 4 years of experience in BIM projects and software (Revit, Navisworks, and Solibri)
  • Experience of working in Building projects for a minimum of 4 years with a range of experience in terms of types of projects including all design stages (concept and detailed design) and employers (consultants and contractors)
  • In-depth knowledge of BIM procedures with good understanding of integration from/ to BIM with other applications with preferable considerable experience in building projects
  • Technically proficient in all aspects of BIM and experience in multi-disciplinary coordination
  • Eager to support other staffs with positive attitude, passion, and patience
  • Ability to uphold the use of standards and escalate issues in a timely fashion
  • Ability to work to deadlines set by BIM Specialist and BIM Coordinator
  • Eagerness to learn with the potential to develop into the role of BIM Coordinator
  • Effective in building good working relationships within teams of complex structures, both internally and with various external project stakeholders
  • Knowledge of using information models for measurement, construction scheduling, cost management is desirable
  • Knowledge on BIM processes e.g., 3D design coordination and clash detection
  • Knowledge in model-based drawing production
  • Knowledge of 3D rendering, and visualization is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of COBie specification and ability to export files from models
  • Experience with the use of a Common Data Environment (CDE)
