Lead Electrical Engineer
Job Description: As a professional expert in Electrical, in charge of the execution strategy, execution plan, interface management, basic data, risk control, design philosophy, etc. Identify potential project risks and develop appropriate risk mitigation measures. Communicate and coordinate with the Client on Electrical design philosophy and technical issues and figure out the solution. Coordinate with Client , third parties, as well as national and local regulations to solve relevant problems and closeout review comments. Responsible for technical tender document review, technical clarification, preparing or reviewing the TBC, etc. Provide technical training and guidance to designers regularly, with no less than 6 times or 20 hours of training per year. Be responsible for other related work assigned by the company. Responsible for developing, reviewing, updating, modifying, and approving key electrical design documents, including the Electrical Design Basis, Power Generation Configuration Study, Power Generation and Distribution Study, Load Analysis Study, Electrical Power System Studies, specifications and datasheets, single-line diagrams (SLDs), electrical layouts, and other related documents Activities include preparing material requisition packages, conducting technical bid evaluations and clarifications, reviewing and incorporating vendor documents (VDR & VDI), as well as liaising with and managing package vendors. Lead EMC and SAFOP Workshop. Join other technical workshops such as HAZID, HAZOP, HFE, 3D Model and other safety-related workshops Accountable for thoroughly reviewing and evaluating vendor technical documentation to ensure alignment with project specifications and standards, while actively participating in technical meetings, clarification sessions, and maintaining close coordination with vendors, procurement, and discipline engineers to resolve discrepancies and secure timely approvalsRequirements: More than 15 years of experience in offshore engineering, electrical design (offshore platform, FPSO, and semi-submersible platform, etc.) Must have worked on at least 2 Middle Eastern projects Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering Proficient in electrical system design for offshore platforms, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, and explosion-proof systems. Capable of designing electrical solutions compliant with international standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, API, ATEX). Experienced in selecting and specifying transformers, switchgear, distribution panels, VFDs, and motors. Experienced in explosion-proof ratings (e.g., Ex d, Ex e, Ex i) and ingress protection (IP) ratings (e.g., IP66, IP67). Skilled in power system studies, including short-circuit current calculation, load analysis, voltage drop calculation, and power factor correction. Familiar with protection schemes (overload, short-circuit, earth fault) and relay coordination. Knowledgeable in offshore automation system design, including SCADA, DCS, and PLC systems. Experienced in cable selection, routing, and layout design, considering environmental factors (temperature, humidity, corrosion) and mechanical protection. Capable of cable sizing, derating factor application, and cable tray design. Familiar with engineering professional knowledge, familiar with marine engineering electrical professional knowledge, technical specifications, international (including but not limited to API, ASME, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, etc.) specifications, industry regulations and policies, with experience in projects in the Middle East Familiar with offshore power system architectures (main power, emergency power, UPS); Understands Saudi oil & gas industry specifics, including Saudi Aramco project requirements; Hands-on experience executing projects in Saudi Arabia/Middle East, adapting to local culture and environmental conditions Familiar with design processes of the Saudi Arabian Oil Company, strong technical solution development and control capabilities, able to timely identify and solve problems, control, and eliminate risks Proficient in using software required for electrical design: ETAP, NAVISWORKS CAD WORD, EXCEL, etc Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, BS, PTS, DEP, NEC, NEMA, API RP 500/505, ATEX, UL, OSHA, and ISO standards Proficient in: ETAP: Power system analysis & protection coordination AutoCAD Electrical / Eplan:Electrical schematic design PDMS: 3D modeling & cable routing Dialux: Lighting design & simulationBrunel International S.E.A Pte.
